Purlins (and cladding rails) play an increasingly important role in both the construction of cold roof constructions and walls made of sandwich panels and sheet steel. Making it possible to construct large lightweight surfaces rapidly and safely.

When used in the roof purlins is the name most commonly used, when used in the facade wall the name cladding rails rules. In both cases, possibly in combination with sandwich panels, wall build-up systems with liner trays and profiled cladding as roof systems with profiled sheets.
