Building envelope
A range of different styles can be used with steel construction to provide the building envelope.
Flooring systems
There are a range of flooring systems. For shorter spans, precast concrete floor slabs can be used with steel beams. Also there are composite floor slabs that generally comprise profiled steel floor deck with in-situ concrete cast over the deck.
Structure
Columns transfer the vertical loads down through the structure to the foundations. Typically columns are aligned on an orthogonal grid to suit the spanning capacity of the beams and the structural zone.
