Dynamics of colour: reflected light
The appearance of a colour can also be modified by reflected light, i.e. light reflected back on to a building from the colour of nearby planes and surfaces.
The colour of a surface is also modified by indirect light reflected on to it from surrounding surfaces. For instance, light reflected from an adjacent Poppy Red building on to a Goosewing Grey wall will create a smoky pink impression. Similarly, foliage or a grassy embankment might add a green tint to light that is reflected from it. Not much can be done about the effect of reflected light if the source occurs after completion of the original building, But if such a source exists already, you should take it into account when selecting colour schemes.
