Tata Steel Student Awards 2011/2012
The objective of these competitions is to encourage engineering design skills that allow steel to be used to generate innovative solutions. The briefs have been formulated to encourage the entrants to realise the full structural, economic and aesthetic advantages offered by the use of steel.

Steel bridge design 2011/2012
The project Brief this year is to design a structure to carry a twin track railway over an existing motorway and adjacent railway. The structure forms part of a new high speed railway line. A wide range of solutions is available, and the client is seeking a cost-effective, elegant solution. This project is intended both to motivate and challenge the entrants. The competitors are expected to demonstrate sound engineering skills and structural design and to produce an elegant structural solution.

Structures design 2011/2012
The brief this year is to prepare an outline design for a structure to enclose a golf driving range to be constructed in a Gulf state. In addition to the driving range, the sponsor wishes to receive initial proposals for a structure in the form of a giant golf ball proposed as an iconic statement.

Architectural brief 2011/2012
The purpose of this competition is to give architectural students a creative vehicle for learning about the use of steel in buildings. By taking part you will have the chance to explore the complex issues involved in development of an inspirational long span airport building.
