The Bahrain Chamber of Commerce aims to be the representative and supporter of the private sector in Bahrain and to enable it to be the engine of economic growth. Its mission statement is "To provide outstanding services to enhance the private sector's role in stimulating economic development." To help it to achieve these goals, the Chamber commissioned the construction of a new headquarters building, at a cost of US$25,000,000.

It took 18 months to complete the building, which is 20 storeys high, with a total gross floor area of approximately 31,000 square metres.

Corus successfully demonstrated that use of the ComFlor® 46 shallow composite profile could achieve very wide spans of 2.8 metres between steel beams. This proved to be an irresistible option, as it would facilitate a significant reduction in supporting steelwork and consequential savings for the client.

ComFlor® 46's trapezoidal composite deck gives strong and reliable shear bond performance. These properties assist in reducing the volume of concrete required, further lowering structural and foundation costs. The product's ultra-efficient nesting characteristics lower the transport volume of the product.

For the Bahrain Chamber project, Corus carried out engineering so that that the ComFlor® 46 supplied from the UK was cut to precise lengths that ensured container space was utilised with maximum efficiency. This achieved further worthwhile client savings in terms of shipping costs. In all, 20,000 square metres of ComFlor® 46 were installed on the project.
