The Bi-Steel panel

A Tata Steel patented construction material, Bi-Steel comprises two steel plates that are permanently connected together to form panels by an array of friction welded transverse bars. These panels are then filled with concrete to create a construction material with outstanding strength.

Bi-Steel benefits

Bi-Steel delivers an alternative construction material – it is faster, easier to construct, more accurately engineered and can offer reduced structural thickness over traditional reinforced concrete.

Bi-Steel applications

In the construction and industrial markets Bi-Steel’s Corefast system is increasingly specified for structural building cores as a superior construction system to reinforced concrete cores. Bi-Steel can also be used in the construction of blast chambers, as a tunnel and trench lining and as an alternative to concrete retaining walls in specialist applications.

For applications in security and defence Bi-Steel is used in the construction of high integrity blast protection buildings which require superior levels of physical security to protect against terrorist bomb attack. Bi-Steel’s anti-attack vehicle barrier system, comprising security barriers, bollards and walls, has also been developed to deny access and provide perimeter security in the event of a terrorist bomb attack on a security sensitive area.
